Early Menopause Symptoms: An Introduction to Early Menopause Symptoms

Many people believe that menopause affects women who are older, most commonly in their late forties or early fifties. However, menopause can affect a woman at any age. Though experiencing menopause at a young age is considered a rare event, it is more common than many people may realize. There have been numerous cases documented of early menopause symptoms in people less than forty years of age. Many females as young as their early teenage years have been known to experience early menopause symptoms. There are many different reasons why the onset of early menopause symptoms may develop in an individual, however, one thing remains certain; the females that experience these symptoms often find the situation very challenging.

It is important for women to understand that there is something that is referred to as premature menopause and then there are early menopause symptoms. While the symptoms of these two conditions are very much alike, the conditions in which an individual experiences these situations are different. For example, if a female experiences the onset of symptoms that resemble menopause in their early forties, this is often named early menopause. However, if a female experiences these symptoms in her twenties or thirties, this is referred to as premature menopause.

For many females, experiencing early menopause or premature menopause is not a problem. However, these females generally have an issue with fertility. However, for the women that experience early or premature menopause that do not have fertility issues, this can be an extremely difficult situation. When a woman experiences menopause it puts an end to their child bearing years. This can prove to be quite disheartening – especially if having a child was a goal that the female wanted to accomplish.

If a woman experiences early menopause symptoms, they may experience any or all of the following:

• periods that are inconsistent from month to month
• not being able to get pregnant
• sweating throughout the night
• hot flashes throughout the day
• issues controlling the bladder
• either gaining or losing weight
• bouts of irritability
• quickly changing mood swings
• difficulties with memory and concentration
• bouts of anxiety
• difficulty in sleeping
• issues with insomnia
• severe depression
• holding water, or feeling bloated
• experiencing pain in the joints throughout the body
• general muscle pain
• headaches ranging from mild to severe

There are numerous reasons why an individual may experience early menopause symptoms. Many of these reasons include genetics and a medical predisposition to experience this issue. Experiencing a low level of estrogen and having certain surgeries performed may lead to early menopause symptoms as well. If you are experiencing these conditions, it is important to get help as soon as possible.
